Portland's MAX light rail (5 lines, 90-plus stations, 60 miles of track) connects the airport to downtown in about 40 minutes for $2.80 — the same fare covers 2.5 hours on buses and the Portland Streetcar. Washington Park attractions are served by the free seasonal shuttle from the MAX station, so skip driving on summer weekends. Portland has more than 350 miles of bike lanes and a well-developed bike-share network. The Pearl District, Hawthorne, and the Eastside Esplanade along the Willamette River are all flat and highly bikeable. Biketown (Portland's docked e-bike share) is the easiest on-demand option.
